The SIM Registration Act requires everyone to register their SIM cards. The process of SUN SIM registration is straightforward, just like TM SIM registration. You can register your SUN SIM card online via the portal or app, or in physical stores.

Note: The deadline for SIM registration for active users was July 25, 2023. Old SIM cards purchased before the SIM Registration Act can no longer be registered. However, new SIMs can still be registered at any time.

SUN SIM Registration Methods

Three methods are available for SUN SIM registration. Details are as follows:

The method for registering a SUN SIM is the same for Filipinos, minors, companies, and foreigners. However, the required details and documents vary for each group.

Online SUN SIM Registration

You can register your SUN SIM card online using the app or the official portal. However, the registration process is the same for both. Here’s how to do it:

  1. First, go to the SUN SIM official portal by clicking the registration link below. This will lead you to the Smart SIM Registration Portal.
  1. On the homepage, you will see a field to enter your mobile number. After entering it, check the box to agree to the terms and conditions, then click Send OTP.
  2. You will receive an OTP on your mobile number. Enter it in the field provided and click Verify OTP. For Wi-Fi users, instructions are provided on the homepage to retrieve the OTP.

  1. Select the type of user for which you want to register your SUN SIM.
  2. Now, enter all the required information, which includes:
  • Nationallity
  • ID Type
  • ID Number 
  • First Name 
  • Legal Middle Name (If you have)

  1. Review all the information and ensure its accuracy. Check the box to agree with the privacy policy.
  2. Once done, submit the registration by clicking the Submit button.
  3. Upon successful registration and activation, you will receive a notification confirming, “You have successfully registered your SIM.” The message includes a reference number. Be sure to save it for future use.

The registration process via the Smart app is the same. Just download the Smart app, create your account, and repeat the steps above.

Always use the official SUN SIM portal and app to register SIM card SUN. Never use and third party sources and links SIM registration.

Register via SMS

You can also register your SIM card using the SUN SMS registration method. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open your messaging app, type “REG”, and send it to 5858.
  2. In response, you will be asked to provide the following details:
  • Full name
  • Date of birth 
  • Complete address
  • Valid ID number (e.g., passport, driver’s license, etc.)
  1. Provide all the details accurately and follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. Once the application is processed, you will receive a confirmation message.

Only use the official SUN SIM registration number (5858). Avoid using any other number to avoid potential risks.

Register SIM at Stores

If you want an in-person guide to register your SIM, visit your nearest Sun/Smart store. Bring all the required documents along with you.  Ask the attendant for SIM registration. The attendant will guide you and help you to register your SIM card. 

Tip: Always provide accurate information. Make sure that all your documents are valid and up-to-date. Your application will be rejected in case of invalid documents and information.

Requirements for Sun SIM Registration

Filipino Citizens

Filipino citizens must provide the following information:

  • Personal details: Full Name, Birth Date, Gender, Address

Note: For minors, the SIM will be registered under the guardian’s details.

Companies

Companies must provide the following documents and information:

  • SEC or DTI Certificate of Registration
  • Board Resolution or Special Power of Attorney (SPA)
  • Valid government-issued ID of the authorized representative

Foreigners

Foreign nationals must submit the following documents and personal details:

  • Valid passport (bio-page and visa pages)
  • Proof of Philippine address (hotel booking, affidavit, etc.)
  • Return/departure ticket (for tourists)
  • Additional documents (ACR I-Card, Employment Permit, Student ID), depending on the type of visa

  • The SIM registration also fails when you take too much time to fill out the form. Therefore, fill out the form quickly in time.
  • Registration errors can also occur due to invalid information. Therefore, always provide valid and up-to-date documents and details.
  • Always upload a selfie and ID photo that does not exceed 2 MB. An oversized photo can also cause registration failure.

Why Sun SIM Registration Is Necessary

Due to the SIM Registration Act, every Sun SIM card user must register their SIM card. Otherwise, they will be deactivated and cannot be used. A deactivated SIM card is completely useless and cannot be used for calls, SMS, or internet data. Therefore, it is necessary for everyone to register their SIM card.

Keep in mind that once the SIM is deactivated, you have five days to reactivate it. After five days, it will be permanently deactivated.
